SOUTH SIDE CHICAGO TEAM ONE SERIES AWAY FROM MAKING HISTORY AS FIRST ALL-AFRICAN AMERICAN TEAM TO GO TO LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES!

One of the things that has angered Chicagoans the most about President Obama’s time in office is the media’s exaggeration of the violence in the United States’ third largest city. Many have drawn a portrait of the Windy City as the murder capital (wrong!) where visitors can expect to be shot on it’s South and West sides unprovoked (again, wrong!), as its residents are poor and violent, with no interests other than drugs and gang activity. What the media won’t report with as much enthusiasm, however, is that the Jackie Robinson West Little League Team from Chicago’s South Side became Illinois’ state champions in Little League baseball last week! If they win their current series, they will also be the first team from Chicago (of any color) to head to the LLWS in THIRTY YEARS!!! They are currently in Indianapolis where, if they continue to win, they will be until August 9th, where they can win a bid to the LLWS in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Good luck, team! The internet went crazy late last week when, in an interview with Barefoot Sound, vocal producer and engineer Ian Cross announced that Janet Jackson was working on her first album in six years. Janet herself gave fans a “hol’ up” when, in response, she tweeted “If there is a new project, you’ll hear it from my lips.” Awww COME ON, JANET!!! Put us out of our misery, already! While we’re waiting for her to make the rumors official, Janet fans can appreciate the video above, where Janet discusses the making the “Janet” album and why she took her now-famous role in the John Singleton movie “Poetic Justice”. J Lo. fans, if you look closely, you’ll catch a glimpse of her as one of Ms. Jackson’s dancers in the footage!
